How to Cure a Ghost by Fariha Róisín

How to Cure a Ghost by Fariha Róisín

How to Cure a Ghost was written by Fariha Róisín, published in 2019, and is a short read at 144 pages.

How to Cure a Ghost is the collection of thoughts and poetry from the author Fariha Róisín. Her poetry navigates through her unusual life of being a young, Muslim femme from self-loathing to self-acceptance.

A few of the poems in the book reflect on her relationship with her mother, her religion, and the many heartbreaks that happen during a young life.

Most of the poems in this book explore Muslim identity, race, pop culture, and film. With the many identities that Fariha Róisín is divided between, there is really a poem for everyone in How to Cure a Ghost.

No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July

Book Cover: No One Belongs Here More Than You

No One Belongs Here More Than You was written by Miranda July. This book was published 2008 and is 205 pages long. The book was a winner of the 2007 Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award.

This book is another collection of short stories which is something that Kendall Jenner really seems to like.

There are sixteen separate stories in No One Belongs Here More Than You, each with their own characters who seem to be just normal, everyday people on the surface, but somehow live extraordinary lives.

A few examples of the background of some of the stories are a bachelor who has never found love, to a woman who has an unhealthy obsession with Prince William, to a story of a someone who sets his friend up with his sister. Some of the stories can get quite weird, yet remain interesting.

While many of the short stories in the book have the common theme of relationships and love, No One Belongs Here More Than You seems to be a genreless collection of stories that are both original and iconic.

Fun fact: This is the debut collection of Miranda July, who you might know as a filmmaker who created the movie Kajillionaire.

literally show me a healthy person by Darcie Wilder

Book Cover: literally show me a healthy person

literally show me a healthy person was written by Darcie Wilder. The book was published in 2017. It’s quite short with only 98 pages.

This is one of the only Kendall Jenner book recommendations that is actually a full story. Though, it does blend the lines between literature and poetry.

One interesting thing about the book, as you can tell from the way the title is written, there are no capital letters or even punctuation in the book at all. It definitely makes for a different type of unique reading.

Even though it is quite short, the book follows a young girl who is full of grief and anxiety. She struggles with the urge to document everything that happens in her life furiously tapping away at her phone and posting everything to social media.

She deals with so many tragic events in her life including the death of her mom and the neglect from her father.

literally show me a healthy person asks the question “Are the words we save as notes, send to ex lovers, or impulsively post to social media, the words we mean the most?
