Books Written By Taylor Jenkins Reid

Today, we are going to take a look at all the books written by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Taylor Jenkins Reid originally worked in film production before she got her first book deal. She even helped write the television show Resident Advisors with her husband.

She published her first book in 2013, and has published a total of 8 books since. Right now she is on a hiatus for a little while before she works on her next book.

But we can enjoy what she has already, and let me tell you each of her books is good.

Here is the list of all the books by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Forever, Interrupted (2013)

Forever, Interrupted

Forever, Interrupted was the first book that Taylor Jenkins Reid had published. It was published in 2013 and has 352 pages.

Her first book was about Elsie Porter.

One New Year’s Day, she ran out to get a pizza and while in the pizza shop, she met Ben Ross, an adorable and charming guy also picking up some pizza.

They chat at the shop and there is instant chemistry. They are practically inseparable for months and decide to get married just five months later.

After their wedding, they only had 9 days together before Ben was hit by a truck and killed. (Don’t worry, this isn’t spoiling anything, and it happens on the first few pages.)

She’s at the hospital when she meets Susan, Ben’s mother who doesn’t even know that Elise even exists. Yup, he never told his mom about his wife.

Forever, Interrupted continues with flashbacks of the incredible romance between Elise and Ben, as well as how Elise and Susan handle everything after Ben’s death.

It’s such a good book, and a real slam dunk for Taylor Jenkins Reid’s first novel.

After I Do (2014)

After I Do

Just a year later, Taylor Jenkins Reid published her second novel, After I Do. This book is again 352 pages long.

After I Do follows the ups and downs of the marriage of Lauren and Ryan. At this point, they are at a down and the marriage has hit a rock wall.

So they come up with an idea to help their marriage. They will take one year apart from each other. The idea is they will see what life is like without each other and find that they would rather be together.

At first the only thing that Lauren can think about is Ryan. Every day is slow, and she really can’t see herself going an entire year without him. But then she thinks of all the negative times that they’ve had together and believes maybe this is the right way to fall back in love.

She then goes on a journey to find herself. She finds other ways to spend her time and learn to cope without him the best she can.

This is a love story for all the relationships that may have hit the wall and the love slowly fades.

Maybe in Another Life (2015)

Maybe in Another Life

Taylor Jenkins Reid’s third novel was Maybe in Another Life. This one has such an interesting plot going back and forth between two separate timelines.

Here’s how it starts.

We meet Hannah Martin, an average 29 year old who has no idea what she wants to do in life. She’s lived in a bunch of cities, and hasn’t really had any meaningful jobs.

Instead of moving to the next city, she moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles, and moves in with her best friend, Gabby.

Hannah goes out to a nearby bar with Gabby, and ends up running into her high school boyfriend Ethan. At just about midnight, her friend asks her if she is ready to go home. Ethan offers her a ride if she stays late instead.

This is where things get interesting, and the book splits into two timelines at this point. One timeline where she goes home with here friend Gabby, and another timeline where she stays with Ethan.

The two timelines differ wildly with different effects on her and the people around her. It really makes you think about how your life would have turned out if you made some seemingly mundane decisions differently.

One True Loves (2016)

One True Loves

One True Loves was Taylor Jenkins Reid’s fourth book, and this is another great one. Again, not spoiling anything here since this is basically all in the first few pages.

This book follows Emma Blair. She got married to her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Jesse. And they take on the world together. They go on international trips, and just live their best life together.

It’s all so perfect, until on their first wedding anniversary Jesse is filming a documentary in a helicopter over the Pacific Ocean that ends up going missing. Jesse is never found and is later pronounced dead.

Emma is obviously distraught. She ends up quitting her job and moving back to her hometown to live with her family to try to put her life back together after the loss of her husband.

Well she is in town she runs into Sam, an old friend and the two hit it off and end up falling in love with each other. Sam proposes to her giving Emma a second chance at happiness.

And then in a huge turn of events, her dead husband calls her. That’s right, he was never dead, and he’s been trying to get back to Emma for years.

Now Emma is caught in an extremely stressful situation. She has to decide between the husband that she loved with all her heart and her new fiance that has given Emma a chance to love again.

Who will she choose?

I also just found out that One True Loves is also a movie, so I’ll be right back, I’m going to watch that.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (2017)

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo follows the scandalous journey of Hollywood icon Evelyn Hugo, who, at last, decides to unveil the whirlwind that has defined her life for years.

In an unexpected choice, she selects Monique Grant, a relatively unknown magazine reporter, to write her biography.

Filled with anticipation and confusion, Monique embraces the opportunity to cover the life of this renowned actress, viewing it as the launchpad for her own aspirations of achieving recognition as a prominent journalist.

Within the lavish walls of Evelyn’s apartment, Monique becomes an audience to the saga of Evelyn’s life.

Spanning the 1950s through the 1980s, the tales encompass the star’s time in Los Angeles and, of paramount significance, the drama with her seven different husbands, each injecting a dose of theatrics into her life.

As Evelyn’s story goes on, Monique finds herself inexorably pulled into the mysterious woman’s charismatic orbit, forging an unexpected connection with the movie star.

However, as Evelyn’s chronicle approaches its conclusion, Monique stumbles upon an astonishing revelation: the threads of their lives are intricately interwoven.

What could these two possibly have in common?

Daisy Jones & the Six (2019)

Daisy Jones & the Six

Following up the smash hit of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Taylor Jenkins Reid released her sixth book, Daisy Jones & the Six. This one is so unique because it’s written in the form of a documentary.

Daisy Jones & the Six was the biggest band in the entire world. Everyone knew about them. What they didn’t know was the story behind the band. Like, why did the band break up when they were at the height of their stardom?

Now, a documentary will show you the behind the scenes of the band.

Set in the 1960s and 70s, the book follows two main characters, Daisy and Billy. They come from two different walks of life but they both have the same dream of making it big.

Billy forms a band called The Six with his brother and some friends, and after playing a bunch of shows they start to get noticed. They go on the road to gain further popularity even after Billy’s girlfriend finds out she’s pregnant.

In Los Angeles, Daisy is a bit of a party girl. She sneaks into clubs, sleeps with rock stars, and does a ton of drugs. After a while of singing here and there, people start to notice that she has an amazing voice. One particular person that notices is Teddy Price, a famous music producer.

Teddy also noticed The Six, and with that Daisy and Billy’s path crossed by the chances of fate to form Daisy Jones & the Six.

It’s unbelievable what happens when these two get together. Let’s just say some sparks fly and tempers flare, but their work is unmatched by anyone else in the music industry.

You’ll just have to read the book to know how this legendary band took over the world, and ultimately fell apart.

Malibu Rising (2021)

Malibu Rising

Taylor Jenkins Reid’s seventh book was Malibu Rising, set in beautiful sunny California over the course of one night.

Nina Riva, a stunning supermodel and an exceptional surfer, comes from a family brimming with talent. Her brother, Jay, is a champion surfer, while her other sibling, Hud, is a globally acclaimed photographer. Their youngest sister, Kit, is a beloved figure in her own right. Adding to this illustrious lineage, their father, Mick Riva, is a legendary singer.

Undoubtedly, the Riva family is a well-known and sought-after presence in the buzzing enclave of Malibu.

In August 1983, Nina prepares for her annual end-of-summer party, a highly anticipated event for everyone except herself. She shies away from the limelight, especially after her recent separation from her husband, a professional tennis player.

The rest of her family eagerly anticipates the upcoming party. Kit extends an unneeded invitation, Hud harbors a secret he’s kept from his brother, and Jay fervently awaits the arrival of a certain girl who is always on his thoughts.

All during the flowing alcohol and booming music, secrets emerge, and before the night concludes, absolute chaos ensues. Indeed, the entire mansion goes up in flames.

Will this unforgettable night bring the family closer together or drive them apart?

Fun fact: This book was on our list of the best books to read during the summer!

Carrie Soto Is Back (2022)

Carrie Soto Is Back

Carrie Soto is Back is the latest book written by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

This book follows Carrie Soto, which I’m sure you could guess from the title. Carrie Soto is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. She’s

She is fierce and determined and this combination hasn’t made her the most popular tennis player. There are quite a few people who do not like her at all. They don’t call her The Battle-Axe for nothing.

Anyway, all of that was over 6 years ago because now Carrie is in retirement. That is, until she’s watching the 1994 US Open and sees her record get broken by an amazing tennis player named Nicki Chan.

Carrie is determined to win her record back, so for the next year she is coached by her father to be even better than Nicki. It doesn’t matter to her that her body isn’t what it once was, nor does she care about the media constantly slamming her.

She only has one more season left in her, so can Carrie Soto get the record that she is so determined to win back?

Fun fact: Carrie Soto was actually a side character in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s previous novel, Malibu Rising.
