Jenna Ortega is an actress who is most known for starring as Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series, Wednesday. She has also had roles in Jane the Virgin, Stuck in the Middle, You, and a few of the Scream movies.

Even though Jenna Ortega doesn’t get to read as much as she wants due to her career as an actress, she still gets to read the books she thinks she will love.

Jenna Ortega’s book recommendations are few and far between, but I did gather all the books she has ever recommended. It’s clear that she does love books written by women that she looks up to.

Between U and Me by Zendaya Coleman

Between U and Me by Zendaya Coleman

Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Style and Confidence by Zendaya Coleman was published in 2013, and is around 224 pages long.

If you like Jenna Ortega, then you are probably also a fan of Zendaya. Jenna Ortega definitely seems to be a fan, and that is why she recommended Between U and Me.

Zendaya wrote this book while she was still on Disney’s Shake It Up. So you have to remember this is from her perspective when she was a teenager.

In her book, Between U and Me, Zendaya shares with us her wisdom and wit. She talks all about her fashion styles, her friendships with her cast, and about how to achieve your dreams just like she did.

Many of the chapters in this book are actually Q and A’s from her followers on Twitter. Her advice shines through in the answers that she is giving to real questions that many people just like you have asked her. It’s possible you may have had some of these same questions!

She even has her doodles and pictures with her friends and family throughout the book. Honestly, Between U and Me makes you really feel like you are BFFs with Zendaya.

This book is obviously aimed at girls in their teens, but it can be perfect for those who are looking to navigate these years when there is so much to think and worry about.

You Don’t Have to Be Everything by Diana Whitney

You Don't Have to Be Everything by Diana Whitney

You Don’t Have to Be Everything: Poems for Girls Becoming Themselves  was written by Diana Whitney. This book of poems was published in 2021, and is 176 pages long.

Jenna Ortega definitely loves poetry so it’s no wonder she loves this book of poems by amazing women.

You Don’t Have to Be Everything contains 68 poems written by women who many girls look up to. The people are of diverse racial and cultural background, of many different ages, and many who are LGBTQ, so there are poems for every girl.

We have Amanda Gorman, a National Youth Poet Laureate who read her poem, The Hill We Climb, at President Joe Biden’s Inauguration ceremony. We also have other incredible women such as Maya Angelou, Elizabeth Acevedo, Sharon Olds, Naomi Shihab Nye, and Mary Oliver. Even Instagram poets like Kate Baer, Melody Lee, and Andrea Gibson get a spot in the book.

Many of the poems have common themes such as coming of age, loneliness, happiness, joy, solace, humor, and bravery. These poems can give any girl a sense of power and strength, and help them let go of shame and conformism.

The Egg by Andy Weir

The Egg by Andy Weir

The Egg is a short story written by Andy Weir. This story was published in 2009, and is the author’s most popular short story. Andy Weir is known as an amazing sci-fi writer.

The Egg is all about the universe and finding the meaning of life. The character is just known as “you”, so it could be anyone, but it’s described from the point of view of a 48 year old man, who dies in a car accident.

The second character is God, known as “me”. The story is written from the perspective of God. The interesting thing that God tells you when you die is that you will be reincarnated as a Chinese peasant girl from the year 540 CE.

He then goes on to tell you that all of the humans that have ever existed are just reincarnations of you. It is an extremely interesting, yet eerie story about a possible outcome of the universe.

It’s All Love by Jenna Ortega

It's All Love by Jenna Ortega

It’s All Love: Reflections for Your Heart & Soul is a collection written by our very own Jenna Ortega. She published this book in 2021. It is 240 pages long.

In It’s All Love, Jenna Ortega tells us her most deeply personal stories about her struggles with depression, anxiety, fitting in, falling in and out of love, the loss of some of her family members, and growing up in Hollywood.

There are many of her quotes scattered throughout the book, accompanied with beautiful illustrations that will inspire any girl to find happiness even in the most difficult of times.

Jenna Ortega obviously has a lot on her plate in her life. She had to figure out how to balance the stress of acting with her family, mental health, and public expectations from a very early age. She teaches us the best way to tackle the hard times in life is to wake up every day with self-appreciation.

This is Jenna Ortega’s first book and she knocked it out of the park with her honest and open glimpse into her life.
