Books by Lynn Painter

Let’s take a look at some of the books written by Lynn Painter.

You might be here because you have already read a couple of Lynn Painter books and you are interested in reading some more of them. I know I was looking for more after Better Than the Movies.

Lynn Painter has written and published 6 books, and more are on the way. Each is good in their own way.

Lynn Painter lives in Nebraska with her husband. She loves to read and watch rom-com movies (bet you couldn’t tell from her books.) She also downs tons of energy drinks and gets to writing.

Here are some books written by Lynn Painter that you can read next.

Better Than the Movies

Better Than the Movies book by Lynn Painter

Better Than the Movies was the first book that Lynn Painter published in 2021. It has 384 pages.

Better Than the Movies follows Liz Buxbaum on her romantic quest to win a prom date with her forever crush, Michael, who finally moved back into town after being gone for a few years.

She would do anything to get him to notice her including scheming with her frenemy, Wes Bennet, the attractive pain in the butt that lives next door and always takes her parking spot. Wes and Michael seem to be so cool with each other that in Liz’s mind he must be the key to getting closer to Michael.

As things progress, she finds herself actually liking being around her annoying neighbor. Now she’s second guessing what she knows about love. Were the countless rom-com movies that she watched misled her about love?

Will Liz rethink her happily ever after?

Fun fact: There is a short story that was written a few years after Better Than the Movies called Better Than the Prom about Liz and Wes’s prom night written from Wes’s point of view.

Nothing Like the Movies

Nothing Like the Movies by Lynn Painter

Nothing Like the Movies is a future book by Lynn Painter. This probably isn’t coming out until 2024, but it is the sequel to Better Than the Movies.

All we really know about the book so far is that it will be a dual POV; this time from both Wes and Liz’s perspective. Also, it takes place during college summer break.

Even though that’s all we know, we are still sooooo excited and just can’t wait until next year!

Mr. Wrong Number

Mr. Wrong Number by Lynn Painter

Mr. Wrong Number is another book by Lynn Painter. She published this book in 2022, and it contains 352 pages. This is another cute Lynn Painter rom-com type book.

Mr. Wrong Number follows Olivia Marshall, who just feels like no matter what she does her bad luck will always make the situation worse. Even her family thinks that she is a screw up.

One night, a random number texts her “What are you wearing?” and things kick off from there. The texts she sends back and forth with this anonymous character are the hottest she’s ever sent and received.

After this, she really believes that her life is looking up.

Soon, Colin Beck, her brother’s best friend, moves in with the family. Colin has always thought Olivia was just another annoying girl, but as he spends more time at their house he begins to realize that she has grown up (and gotten more attractive.)

However, it doesn’t take long for him to realize that Olivia is the one he has been accidentally sexting this whole time! Now what will he do? Go after his best friend’s younger sister, or drop things before they get weird?

The Love Wager

The Love Wager book by Lynn Painter

The Love Wager is the second book in the Mr. Wrong Number series, though it has different characters and kind of doesn’t even relate to the other book at all, except a couple of parts that are linked. This one was published by Lynn Painter in 2023, and it is 320 pages long.

The Love Wager is a dual point of view and swaps back and forth between Hallie Piper and Jack.

Hallie is at rock bottom after being broken up with by her boyfriend. She decides it’s time to turn her life around, so she gets a new apartment, new haircut, and goes shopping for all new clothes. She even drunkenly hooks up with someone in a hotel room.

Jack is the friend of Olivia (from Mr. Wrong Number). She helps him sign up for a dating app after he drunkenly hooked up with a bartender, conveniently named Hallie Piper.

And guess what? They just so happen to find each other on the dating app, but they choose not to pursue each other. Instead, they will be each other’s wing person to find the perfect person for each other. They text about their dates, and eat lots of tacos.

Then they go on a fake date to a wedding with each other and everything changes. The lines between fake and real start to blur, and oh! Are they actually in love with each other?

The Do-Over

The Do-Over by Lynn Painter

The Do-Over is another popular book written by Lynn Painter, and published in 2022. It has 304 pages. This is one of the more popular Lynn Painter books.

Emilie Hornby is having the worst Valentine’s Day of her life. She is supposed to tell her boyfriend that she loves him, but instead she catches him kissing another girl. On top of that, she crashes her car into her frenemy, Nick, who she also can’t seem to avoid.

After this trashy day, all she wants to do is go hang out with her grandma and eat ice cream. She ends up falling asleep at her grandma’s house, but somehow wakes up in her own bed the next day. What?!

She checks everything and realizes that it is Valentine’s Day, again. Her dad says the same thing to her, she crashes her car, and she watches her boyfriend cheat on her again. And the next day it happens all over again.

She begins to wonder why life has decided to torture her in this way, until one day she decides to embrace it and go all out. What will she have to do to move on to February 15th?

This book is such a cute young adult rom com book.

Accidentally Amy

Accidentally Amy book by Lynn Painter

Accidentally Amy was published in 2022. This one is a bit shorter at just 242 pages.

Accidentally Amy follows Isabella ‘Izzy’ Shay as she is accidentally turned Amy when a barista yells for ‘Amy’ multiple times and Izzy has the bright idea to claim she is Amy and take the coffee.

Things get weirder for her as she turns around, bumps into the most attractive man she’s ever seen, and completely spills her drink all over him. Instead of freaking out she has the ultimate meet-cute with sparks flying left and right, feeling like a fairy tale.

Except when he goes to leave, he says, “See you tomorrow Amy.”

Izzy plans to straighten everything out the next day when they see each other. That doesn’t quite work out as planned. When she gets to her first day at her dream job, she finds out that the VP of her department is the same guy from the coffee shop!

And let me tell you, he did not like her little stunt. In fact, he doesn’t seem to like anything at all. He’s just a huge arrogant grump.

Will Mr. Grump end up liking Izzy as much as he liked Amy?

Betting On You

Betting On You by Lynn Painter

Betting On You is the most recent Lynn Painter book. It will be released in late 2023, and will have 432 pages.

Betting On You follows Bailey, a 17-year-old girl who just started a new job at a hotel waterpark. While on the job, she discovers that Charlie, an annoying boy she met on a flight last year, is one of her coworkers.

Instead of being annoyed by him now, she actually loves to come to work just so she can gossip about her coworkers with Charlie. They are particularly interested in two co-workers who keep flirting with each other.

This is when Bailey and Charlie bet whether they will get together or not. Charlie claims that boys and girls cannot be just friends, and Bailey believes that that is completely possible. They keep track of the couple’s progress together.

During airtime together Charlie begins to develop feelings for Bailey, but doesn’t want to tell her because he believes that he will lose her. At the same time, Bailey realizes she is starting to see him as more than just a friend.

Will these two get together and become lovers? Well, it seems like Charlie has made a secret bet of his own.
